The new two-story residence with a basement, roof and swimming pool is located in the protected traditional area of Kifisia, on Kassaveti Street.
The design draws on the archetypal single-story form with a gabled roof, which becomes the central element of the composition. Two identical, pure volumes—abstract representations of the “house” in its most essential form—are repeated both horizontally and vertically, establishing a dialogue between solid and void. This interplay recalls the spatial logic of traditional settlements while allowing the introduction of open, clearly defined outdoor spaces (patios). These spaces act as extensions of the interior, providing protection from the sun and wind and enhancing the continuity between indoor and outdoor living.
Movement through the house flows seamlessly from the kitchen and dining area in the south, through the central atrium, to the living room and pool to the north. This continuous spatial sequence reflects the Mediterranean architectural principle of dissolving boundaries between interior and exterior, creating a unified living experience.
The two pitched roofs, combined with the residence’s low height, allow the building to integrate harmoniously into the traditional architectural character of Kifissia. The pitched roof—together with the tower—constitutes one of the defining elements of Kifissia’s historic mansions. On Kassaveti Street, one of the area’s most distinctive streets with its tall plane trees and traces of the historic water channels (amboles) that once cooled and animated the neighborhood, the residence limits its presence to a simple, ground-floor volume, discreetly embraced by the surrounding greenery.
