Innovative Training Center for people on the autism spectrum

This is an existing building that belongs to the Greek Public Employment Service (DYPA). It is part of an educational building complex and will be transformed into an innovative IT training center for people on the autism spectrum of medium and high functioning. The building has a total area of 725 sq.m. and extends over 4 levels.

The aim of the architectural proposal is to smoothly integrate the needs of the training center into the existing building and highlight the building itself and the new function by reforming the facades and the surrounding area. For the interior design of the building, in order to meet the needs of individuals on the moderate and high functioning autism spectrum, the team took into account the needs for: privacy and individual space, spaces that encourage social interaction, safe and well defined areas, soft materials, subtle lighting, sound insulation and sound absorption.
